Manulife Investor Sentiment Index (MISI) 10 revealed Indonesian investors’ failure to control their spending exacerbated by repeating financial mistakes. It's shown that  investors neither effectively manage their day to day expenses nor have clear savings plans, with the majority (70%) having set no target savings goal for a specific time frame. In addition, whilst the majority of investors acknowledge the need for better investment planning in today’s volatile market, the survey suggests they are continuing to make the same mistakes, such as holding too much cash.

    Manulife Investor Sentiment Index (MISI) XI  mentioned that Indonesian investors are at a high risk of being underprepared for the financial reality of retirement, according to a recent survey by Manulife. The Manulife Investor Sentiment Index (MISI)* revealed that while nearly all investors (96%) believe they will maintain or enhance their lifestyle in retirement, their savings are likely to fall far short of their spending, jeopardizing their financial security.

    The majority of investors are optimistic about their future, with 71% believing they are on track with their financial goals and a further 10% believing they are ahead of schedule. Conversely, only 19% are concerned that they are behind their target.

    Indonesia investors exhibit a striking level of optimism in their retirement planning and investment outlook, according to the latest Manulife Investor Sentiment Index. More than three quarters of investors believe they will be able to maintain their current standard of living during retirement, with nearly all investors (97 percent) confident that they will have post-retirement income from various sources. However, only 43 percent say they have started planning for retirement. In addition, a large portion of their wealth (34 percent) is held as cash savings and bank deposits which, after inflation, generate very modest if any real returns.
